Cells are tiny. Before microscopes were invented, nobody had seen
cells. Even the biggest cells in the body (egg cells) are only 1/10th
of a millimetre across, and most cells are much smaller. But once
microscopes were around, scientists soon discovered that cells are
everywhere. Every plant and animal turned out to be made up of cells.
